We love local.
When I first came to Casco in 1995 I read every word of the South Haven Tribune each week. It was my best and one of the only ways to learn more about my chosen community. Of course, Casco was not quite the center of attention of that publication. We've all seen changes in print newspapers over the years. At my new address in Casco, the South Haven Tribune isn't even delivered to my forlorn newspaper mailbox.
Casco Township News addresses a gap in locally available news and information. Many of us would like to know more about what's going on. Some of us need to be better informed about the community and its resources. The goal of Casco Township News is to deliver simple facts. We cover Township and County government, businesses, non-profits and people. In the process, our mission is to build community by sharing information.
This is a great place to live, with fine people, good land, and beautiful vistas. Casco Township News is a local source of news and information about Casco.
Read news here, follow us on Facebook, and/or sign up to receive occasional emails sent to your inbox. My bias: information is power.
--Julie M. Cowie, Founder

Julie M. Cowie discovered Casco Township 30 years ago. She is a former Township official with experience on the Board of Review, Planning Commission, Parks & Recreation Committee, as Trustee, and two terms as Clerk.
Julie married local Casco resident Will Hart in 2005 after getting to know him through Board of Review and Planning Commission meetings (in lieu of dating, not kidding). Their marriage announcement made the Township newsletter; Casco Township News would like to take the lead on those announcements from now on. Their two daughters were raised here, riding the bus to South Haven Public Schools from a stop on the Blue Star.
Other local experiences include founding Lakeshore Harvest Country with a collection of producers from Casco and Ganges. Julie and Will also launched a farm business, Improvisational Farmer LLC. In 2018, Julie Cowie and Will Hart and a very technically talented Casco resident formed Rural Gig LLC, an internet company.
Julie's additional professional work experience includes project management and teaching entrepreneurship at Grand Valley State University. She holds an M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
