Brad Lubbers, newly elected County Commissioner, reports to Casco Township Board of Trustees

Attending the December 16, 2024 meeting of the Casco Township Board of Trustees, Lubbers offered comment on two areas of interest.

First, regarding broadband internet rollout, the county has been divided into zones, and Casco will be one of the last zones to be served. Although fiber provider 123.net currently estimates Casco to be connected to fiber by September 30, 2025, Lubbers thought it could be closer to December of 2025. (Many Casco residents are served by MEC (Midwest Energy & Communications); residents can look up their slated broadband provider at www.AlleganCounty.org/broadband for the most accurate information about their address).

Mr. Lubbers also reported on a recent meeting held with representatives of the Palisades nuclear power plant, operated by Holtec. Mr. Lubbers gave a tentative restart date of October 2025, which is dependent on emergency readiness plans being in place. The Allegan County Emergency Center has not yet conducted drills.
