Casco resident Debbie Wilson was one of three non-profit representatives selected to pitch to South Haven Women Who Care at their quarterly meeting on November 6. Speaking on behalf of The South Haven Food Pantry, Wilson was persuasive. Women in attendance voted to support the pantry with contributions of $100 each. The South Haven Food Pantry collected over $9,000 in financial support from the women's philanthropic group.
The South Haven Food Pantry, located in the First Congregational Church in South Haven, serves over 150 families per week throughout the greater South Haven area.
Additional Casco volunteers staffing the South Haven Food Pantry include Susan Murphey, who chairs the organization, and Geneva Halliday. The food pantry also benefits from produce and food donations from Casco farms including A&B Brush Farms, Barden Farms, Barden's Farm Market, and Sill Farms. The Casco United Methodist Church contributes from their Hungry for Christ program when there is surplus.
