At the regular November 18, 2024 board meeting of the Casco Township Board of Trustees, board members raised some fees while lowering others.
The Board voted to raise cemetery rates for Casco Township cemeteries.
The Board voted not to implement a $50 fee for extending building permits, overriding Casco Township Building Inspector Eric Davis' recommendation. Instead, the board voted to extend building permits at no charge.
The Board voted to purchase a computer and ipad and access to Pivot Point software, which enables the Board and the public to access Assessor data at the Township Hall.
The Township, per its investment policy, will work with Huntington Bank to make sure its sweep accounts are insured by the FDIC.
The Board authorized the South Haven Water and Sewer Authority (SHAWSA) to place Casco delinquent accounts on the tax bills. This is not a new practice.
The Board had explored a fund raising platform but took no further action; the fundraising app was considered too undeveloped to be helpful to the Township and its committees at this time.
The Township tabled action on whether to allow Allegan County to establish test wells on Township property in Casco as a way of monitoring water capacity and the health of the aquifer. The test wells would be installed at no charge to the Township, paid for through ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds. The information could be of use to developers and planners.
