The Casco Township Parks and Recreation Committee held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday July 8 at 7:00 pm.

The committee was in receipt of a wetlands study conducted on the Maple Grove portion of the Casco Township Nature Preserve. The study was produced by LRE (Land & Resource Engineering). It is understood that any actions taken by the Township to restore public access to the beach at the Nature Preserve site would require this review of any wetlands.

Since the study denoted more wetlands than anticipated, it was determined to ask LRE what might be a feasible way of restoring beach access. Committee members Paul Macyauski and Debbie Weaver will approach LRE to ask their counsel on how the Township might be most successful in providing the public access to the beach at the Nature Preserve

.

The Committee is pleased with the new restroom at the Preserve, and the cleanliness provided by the cleaning crew.

A water fountain will be added to the Preserve restroom building at a cost not to exceed $3,000.

A new picnic table has been installed near the pickleball court and basketball hoop at the Casco Township Hall.
