South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) Chief Brandon Hinz reported to the Casco Township Board of Trustees at the November 18 meeting. Highlights of his report include 2,374 calls to date, with 372 Fire/EMS combined in Casco Township.
The Casco SHAES station on 66th St just south of 109th Avenue has been staffed 2 to 3 times per week on a trial basis.
On December 3, SHAES will be adding another career hire. They recently had 6 cadets working with the SHAES staff over a 3 month period.
In police news, Deputy Hoyt reported that things have been generally quiet around Casco Township, though with the end of the vacation season, larcenies are his concern. He urged residents to lock up fuel tanks.
Casco residents who wish to have their property checked for intrusions may contact the Allegan County Sheriff's Department to request property inspections.
