Short Term Rental (STR) registration time for Casco Township

Property owners in Casco Township who engage in short term renting (STR) are reminded to register with Casco Township prior to the beginning of the rental season. Registration is $325 annually, with fines of $750 and upward for renting without registering the property first. This annual payment may now be made by credit card, check, or cash.
The Casco Township Short Term Rental Ordinance outlines basic stipulations for short term renting, including requiring the owner to reside within 45 miles of the property or to name an agent to manage the property; maximum overnight occupancy of 12 persons or less based on bedrooms ($500 fine for exceeding occupancy limit); one rental per week; 3 night minimum; smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; required signage; insurance coverage; and quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am daily.
The Township provides its residents with a hotline number and/or a printed form to report any violations of the short term rental ordinance or other nuisance violations.

Costs for operating the short term rental program in Casco Township are covered by the registration fees collected.
The Casco Township Short Term Rental Ordinance has been in effect since 2018.
